1. OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this method statement is to carry out the Blockwork works by meeting the technical specification and complying with Standards.
2. SCOPE:
The scope of this method statement includes at all areas at CTSIL site while executing it in accordance with Technical specifications.

5. Materials
·
All the specification of AAC Brocken including the dimensions,
tolerances, nominal sizes and shapes, web, grades of block etc. shall confirm
to IS 2185(Part-III) -1984
·
All the blocks shall be sound, free of cracks or other imperfections,
exposed faces shall be free of chippings.
·
Aerocon Smartfix Jointing Mortar or equivalent
·
Sand, Cement - Lean Mortar for filling joint
·
Concrete – For filling pockets ( Door Anchors)
·
GI Wall Tie – 250 X 50 X 3 mm
6. METHODOLOGY
6.1.
Jointing
Mortar:
a)
Apply a thin uniform layer of 3mm jointing mortar using notch trowel
b)
Place the next course of AAC Block on the evenly laid jointing mortar
bed in proper line and level.
c)
The jointing mortar mixed shall be consumed within 60 min of its mixing.
d)
Excess water should not be added after initial mixing of jointing
mortar.
6.2. AAC Blocks:
a)
Blocks shall have a minimum compressive strength of not less than 3.5
N/mm2. That maximum variation in dimension shall not be more than +/-2mm in
height, breadth and in length.
b)
The AAC blocks shall overlap of 150mm long.
c)
Take the required quantity of water (9 to 11 lit / 40 Kg bag ) in a
clean bucket; add Smartfix Jointing Mortar. Add Powder to water not water to
powder while mixing.
d)
Stir continuously for 5 – 10 minutes by using an electric mixer or by
hand to obtain a homogeneous lump free mix.
e)
Allow the resultant wet mortar to stand for about 5 minutes for the
additives to dissolve.
f)
Wall tie / holdfast, 250mm long bent to shape with Hilti nail at every
third course.
g)
Horizontal Concrete band (only for 100 mm thick wall) 75mm thick at
every 1.2 m height with reinforcement longitudinal bars 2 nos’ 8 Tor and
transverse reinforcement 8 Tor @ 200mm c/c at courses.
h)
Vertical RCC Stiffeners shall be provided as per shop drawings with 4T10
vert T-2L 8mm die 200mm c/c vertical links.
i)
All the connecting AAC Block masonry work shall be carried out at nearly
one level and no portion of work shall be raised more than 1.5 m.
j)
The construction of walls may be started either at the corners first or started
from one end and proceeding in the other direction. If the corners of the walls
are built first, they shall be built four or five courses higher than the
centre of walls.
k)
The course laid shall be checked for alignment, level and for being
plumb to ensure truly straight and vertical wall’s

Repeat the laying process until the wall is completed.

n)
The construction of the blockwork shall be done as per attached drawing.
7. RESPONSIBILITIES.
· Construction Manager: He shall be responsible for overall management of construction activities.
· Site Engineer: He shall be responsible for Executing in safe work method as per drawings and guide the supervisors and work men.
· Site Supervisor: He shall be responsible managing all plant and machineries and labour and safety of the workers
· QA/QC In charge: He shall be responsible for ensuring the quality of work as per the specifications and standards.
· HSE Manager/Engineer: He shall be responsible for assisting to engineer/supervisor to ensure the safety of workers during the progress of work. Safety inductions of each staff and workers shall be done and daily PPE check to be done and tool box talk shall be carried out before the start of work. General safety awareness as well as particular safety precautions and guidelines for activity to be carried out in that particular day shall be discussed.
· Stores officer: He shall be responsible for storing of all materials. Also responsible for maintaining the record of incoming and outgoing and up to date stock details of materials.
